Bathing Suit Weather!!

It is so hot outside where I am right now, I can't even stand it. But there are positives that come along with warm weather: the beach (or a pool if you don't live in a coast)! This means it's time to break out the swimsuits, or in most cases go out and buy a new one, if you haven't already.

Outfit of the Day

Hey guys! I celebrated this ridiculously hot Labor day at a bbQ outside, in my new favorite dress, with my family, and a played round of bocce ball.

Kept the makeup simple. Liquid liner is my go to makeup item- keeps it pin up, keeps it vintage.

My shoes were a bargain, Payless! (recognize that bracelet?)

Similar color palate, so happy the flowers are blooming.

Dress is from forever 21. It was the last one on the shelf.  ;D

This is one of my favorite outfits now, hope it inspires you to stay vintage without spending a lot of money! Thanks for reading!

Scavenger Hunt!

Hey all! I'm so pumped because I just got these sweet vintage finds scavenging through my mom's old jewelery! They are so perfect, I can't wait to have them be the finishing touch to my outfits. Thanks mom!

This one was my great great grandmother's. She's 100, just imagine all the history this bracelet has lived through.

This is one that my mom bought for a nickel at a garage sale in the 70s. It's so cute!

There's nothing better than getting new stuff for free, especially when it is as old as these pieces. It's so fun! I challenge you guys to go hunting through boxes and such that you haven't looked at in a while and see what you find! Thanks for reading!

That New Bag

The tote is the bag of the moment, celebrities and whoever are all walking around with them, big enough to stuff their summer necessities in. But what if i told you you could have that great bag from the place where you buy seltzer water and birthday cards? That's right WALMART, a place most wouldn't think to look has a surplus of these it totes! These ones are all under $30 and so cute!

How perfect for that beach day right?

What's more vintage than the king of rock'n'roll?

This print adds that sweet, approachable, country appeal.

These two are cute and healthy for the environment!

Quirky, makes me think of a grandma on her porch in the summer.

Seventeen Magazine Break Down (2)

Hey! Here are some more cheaper ideas going off of the Seventeen Magazines May edition of "Your Summer Hot List".

I loved a lot of these suggestions because they were retro-friendly!

Head Scarf- Nothing oozes easy breezy vintage like one of these. When i see one, my brain goes to Thelma and Louise driving in their '66 Thunderbird. Cool car, chicks who are in charge, and they look good! Who could deny wanting to embody that?
80's sunglasses- no need to explain :]

Sailor bikini- Sailor bikinis remind me of the wardrobe in Sweeney Todd when Helena is singing "By The Sea".

Flirty romper- I didn't warm up to rompers as quickly as everyone else seemed too, but some of them can be really cute.

Statement earrings- You can totally use these to gain a 60s mod look.

It's like this list was handmade for the vintage loving girl! I hope you liked these options. Have you noticed Forever21 is my favorite store yet? XP Thanks for reading!

Seventeen Magazine Break Down

Hey cuties! So I am a total magazine freak, and I thought I'd share the "vintage and broke" perspective on a part of the May issue of seventeen magazine before it's June.  Bare with me there are a lot of words. haha.

"The Best New Shorts" (a list of shorts styles for summer)
This was a great idea, because once it gets so hot that all you want to wear is a tank and some shorts, you can still convey your style through the different kinds of shorts.  I loved the categories, but their options were a tad too expensive for my frugal taste, so here are my suggestions and opinions on how to style them in a vintage way lovies:

Embroidered: these are an awesome bohemian vintage style piece, but instead of paying 50 bucks for them try buying a strand of ribbon at an art store and stitch them on to a different old pair of shorts.

High-Waisted- An absolute staple item for...ever! they are my favorite kind of shorts at the moment. They automatically give that vintage 50s/60s style to any top (it's a plus if they have those sailor style buttons), but I'd try it with a sleeveless blouse that ties at the top, and of course some oxfords :]
The shorts they showed were $54, and these are only $14.80

Floral- I love floral and they add a "secret garden" like attitude to your outfit. Try with stripes, keep the colors soft to keep the sweet girl appeal.

They offered $30 shorts, and these are $28.50.

Camo- Not my personal favorite, it would give a 90s vintage feel to your suit though.

Tuxedo- I think they just mean formal black shorts. To make it vintage try adding some tea-stained lace items. That also makes them more formal.
There's were $70, ours are $9.80.

Overdyed- Personally, I love dyed shorts. It's a bummer though because my favorite Easter egg yellow ones are too small :[ but they were sold at a yard sale for the American Cancer Society so i guess it's all good.
There's were $42, these are $19.80.

Hope these help you out and keep your appearance cool, but your wallet full! Thanks for reading!
